Dear community and deveopers, dear Brian,

I am have a blog running on MT 5.xx, and use static publishing.

How can I create archive mapping for TAGs?
The output file should be :

I have few tousend of entrys with a lot of tags. Every time users, visotors or google-bot (spiders) klick on a tag, the internal search engine of MT is working.
That causes a huge Server overload and all pages are displaying very slow.

The activity log shows, that every Minute 5-8 times someone (probably Bots) is searching for a keyword on my page. Those are the searches for tags.

So I would like to create a Tag archive mapping. This tag archive I will rebuild once per week or per month.

Which Files of the core installation of MT will I have to change?
I Assume, I can create Tag Archive Mapping the same way, the entry archive mapping or category archive mapping was created.

In the case - ist is to complicated for MT beginner, how much it would coast, to write a plugin, which creates TAG archiv mapping.

PS: now I am usind mod revrite and htacces for clear URL like this: but in this case, the internat search engine of MT is still working.
My goal is to create for Tags only html files.

You shouldn't have to change any files in the core MT application to get what you are describing to work. What you want to do can be done with a plugin. While MT's archiving system is extensible, it is poorly documented. I am attempting to through together a plugin for you to see just how easy or hard this is going to be.

I have spent now close to 4 hours researching this issue. I attempted to build a plugin that would add support for what you described, but have determined tag archives to be impossible using MT4. Custom archive types are simply not allowed given the current codebase. Getting it to work would require some new features and some changes to the core application.

Those changes could be made to Melody though. Are you familiar with Melody?
