Image Cropper: Can't use string ("&quot) as a subroutine ref while "strict refs" in use

Running Imagecropper 1.0.10 on Movable Type Enterprise version 4.34-en with: Community Pack 1.65, Enterprise Pack 1.31, Professional Pack 1.31

We are running FCGID and have had to have a number of plugins attended to that have static data (and presumably mutate it), to get them to work with FCGID (same deal with FastCGI).

Image Cropper seems to work OK after an Apache restart and for some time. Then starts failing with the yellow dialogue box: Can't use string ("&quot) as a subroutine ref while "strict refs" in use

I notice that ImageCropper has had some attention since we installed and is currently at 1.0.21. Is any of that good work likely to be relevant to our problem?

Almost certainly. You are effectively 11 versions behind. That amounts at least 11 bug fixes, but probably more. No new features have been added, nor has the schema changed since 1.0.10. Therefore an upgrade should be relatively safe, remembering of course that any time you upgrade anything, it is always wise to do a back up first! :)

    Finally got around to this.

Alas, the upgrade chokes on this: 'Error during upgrade: Died at lib/MT/App/ line 586', which is sub error.

I guess that means there are dependencies that need to be updgraded?

I ought to say it got as far as this:

    Upgrading table for ajaxrating_hotobject records...
    Upgrading table for linkbox_links records...
    Upgrading table for photo_gallery_item records...
    Upgrading table for ajaxrating_vote records...
    Upgrading table for ajaxrating_votesummary records...

Not yet. You might try an older version.

The plugin is failing in the version you are using because we needed to change the name of the tables used by Movable Type to store IC's data in order to ensure compatibility with Oracle. If you are using Oracle, then we must find a way to make this work. If not, try the previous version.

In the meantime, i will ping our resources to get a sense of when the fix will be ready.

Ah... you mean pre-dating ? I'll give 1.0.20 a go. Many thanks for the attention, Byrne.

FYI, the schema upgrades OK with 1.0.20. I'll run some basic tests and then put this into production and see if it handles the 'Can't use string ("&quot) as a subroutine ref while "strict refs" in use' error. Thanks again, Byrne.

Hi Rob. I don't know if you're still having an issue or not but if so, you may want to check out the latest version 1.0.24 which has further fixes related to the upgrade process.

Please let me know if your issue is solved either way so I can close this discussion.

I'll do that. Thanks Jay. [We have been struggling with FCGI.]
